Airport blues

Hungover and exhausted at the airport, and the flight's delayed.

Went to Krystal and Eiei's place last night where we drank wine and watched movies. I really liked The Dreamer, a foreign film that Eiei calls "artsy fartsy." The characters were really interesting and unique, and, as their personalities developed, I got to like them more and more. The movie moved well from stages of weird, to weirder, to truely odd, and it transitioned so smoothly that nothing seemed too far out of place- even the scene where the american boy, the french girl, and her brother all bathe together. I like when writers sneak stuff by you, and afterward you think "wait a minute how did THAT not stand out?!!" The three bottles of wine probably didn't help our cause.

Crashed around 3, and woke up no later than 8:30. Working people: which one of you decided you should start so early??

So now I write and dream of napping, while Lipsky brags about his free trip to anybody and everybody that answers their phone. And reads my book. And runs a tab up for me at the bar. I think he's been waiting for this for years.

By the way, It's really nice out. nearly unbelievable. It's been this way all week too. I guess December missed the memo that it's supposed to be cold and mean. I almost feel bad that I picked this time to head to a 70 degree climate.

Almost.

What else? Split Rock Entertainment, my pet project, is picking up steam, and I'm very excited. Our Band's first CD comes out in a week or so, and we are having a release party on the island on the 23rd. Then the band and I head to Buenos Aires in late january for a month to promote/play/begin our global musical domination. And maybe to meet cute girls. Work is so much fun.

Miguel and I met earlier today and had a brief meeting. What we really need to do is work out the fine tuning of our contract with the band, which means less distractions, which means less going out and meeting said distractions. And neither of us seem very good with that. Perhaps we can keep each other focused just enough to hammer out some solid work before the gears really start turning. Time will tell. It's definitely awesome having someone the team who lives and breaths music and music production, and given how good the band is, I have nothing but confidence.

My day in Rapid Motion

Wake up. Its 12:53. Outside, the sun is shinning and bouncing itself off every surface imaginable, trying to find every way and angle into my room. There's a slightly smokey smell coming from outside. The neighbors above have fish booming out of their speakers; I can hear the baseline so vividly that I can guess the title through the vibrations of my bed. "Thank god they at least gave me 6 hours to sleep.."

My head hurts and I need to piss. I gauge the air from outside my covers and its warm. Up I go. I try to rise and a twang of pain goes through my brain down to my neck. Thoughts come swirling back.

Dammit Krystal

That little burmese girl, all 95 pounds of her, can certainly fucking drink. And she means business too. She apparently goes shot for shot with grown men, smiling and showing no weakness as they choke down drink after drink. This was the 2nd time I let her take shots with me until I was proper wasted. Probably wont be the last either. She's sassy and fun and a really good kisser.

So now I'm here, with a headache and a sore neck, and its only 1. I need water and back rub more than anything in the world.

For some reason beyond me, I am motivated. So after breakfast down at the dinner, I head back to my room and put in a solid 3-4 hour session. Not bad for a saturday- or any day to be honest. When I showed my dad my stats and graphs the other day, I realized I put in 41 hours for the entire october. I laughed. Guess I was having a lot of fun that month.

Take a break, grind again. Read up on stuff online. Gotta study up whenever I can. When 7 o'clock comes around I start to shower and eat. Roommates and friends are playing a show at the BU gallery, which Miguel tells me is about the size of a city block.

grab a cab down there and Miguel isn't lying. This place is enormous and beautifully set up. The tiles, the walls, the pillars- everything is awesome. Unfortunately, its just being set up, so the walls are mostly bare. This makes for a really cool setting for a show though.

Back to the Allston house. Kids are drinking heavily and playing homemade objects that resemble instruments. Still hungover, I nurse my beer and get comfortable on a shaggy brown sofa.

Adam reminds me I kept promising him a trip the night before as long as he finished school. Turns out he had indeed finished- the week prior. I'm up for the challenge though; I get online and book flights to new orleans. We leave day after tomorrow. Vacationing is one thing I'm very good at, and love doing too. And I've never been to NO before.

Talk mike into heading home. Get back around 2. Remember a list of books I want to buy that I saw online. Amazon.com is once again my savior.

I order:

The Magic of Thinking Big
David Schwartz

How To Win Friends and Influence People
Dale Carnegie

The Prince
Niccolo Machiavelli

The Art of War
Sun Tzu

Think and Grow Rich
Napoleon Hill

Kind of a weird list but all seemed interesting and something I could randomly pick up and read a chunk from when I'm traveling.

I'm getting tired.

Put on some music. Sit back. Decide to finally write something for this stagnant-ass blog.

done.
